Not your grandmother’s chrysanthemum drink
Lion City Meadery releases their first Asian-inspired seasonal mead

17 April 2020, Singapore – Singapore’s very own craft mead brewers Lion City Meadery have released the first of a series of four seasonal meads, inspired by traditional Southeast Asian flavours.

Chrysanthemum’ leads the pack, a clear golden-hued mead with a richly textured chrysanthemum profile. Sweet with a slight bitter and dry finish that is sure to bring on the nostalgia for folks that grew up drinking homemade chrysanthemum tea.

In keeping with the traditional way in which grandmothers brew chrysanthemum tea, the brewers adopted that same approach with this very special mead. Premium tea-grade dried chrysanthemum flowers were sourced for this seasonal. After being steeped in water, their proprietary blend of honey was added in place of the more traditional rock sugar, and the resulting liquid fermented into golden mead.

Finished uncarbonated and at 7% ABV, this mead is perfect for all day drinking. We recommend having it well-chilled in a tall glass to mark the end of yet another work-from-home day.

As with all their seasonal meads, this mead is a one-off brew in limited quantity and only available while stocks last.

Lion City Meadery’s full range of mead is available online with delivery from the following retailers:

 About Lion City Meadery

Lion City Meadery (LCM) is the brainchild of two Singaporeans – Sanjay Jegatheesan and Justin Herson – who prior to starting LCM, were in the totally unrelated industries of audio-visual sales and construction.

Sanjay first tasted mead during a trip to London in 2013, and it was love at first sip. Frustrated by the lack of quality meads in Singapore, he decided to start brewing his own at home. Also, he was broke as hell, and it was a lot cheaper to just make bootleg alcohol.

Fast forward to early 2018, Sanjay discovered a fellow mead lover in Justin, his friend of more than 10 years, and broached the idea of starting a Meadery. After multiple drunken discussions together (fueled by mediocre mead), LCM was born that same year in August 2018.
